Flotsam and Jetsam: Mixed Media & Fiber Work by Polly Giragosian

Come celebrate her art and heritage during a reception on Saturday, April 3 from 2 to 6 pm in the Mindy Ross Gallery, Kaplan Hall, SUNY Orange, at the corner of Grand and First Streets, Newburgh. The exhibit runs through May 20, 2022.

Saturday is the reopening of NBNY Art Seen, an arts initiative in Newburgh. Galleries are open to welcome visitors. At SUNY Orange, partake of the art and enjoy the beautiful view of the Hudson River from Kaplan Hall which is situated on a bluff overlooking the river.

Musician Joy Zelada will play classical guitar from his large repertoire. He also will gladly explain the music and his instrument. Zelada earned an Associate in

Arts from SUNY Orange and a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Art in Music both from Hunter College.

Previous to this solo show, Polly Giragosian has shown her work in both local and national exhibitions, including Smack Mellon Studios, Brooklyn, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art in New Paltz.

Polly Giragosian has had a varied journey in the arts. She began her art career studying painting and drawing at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, then at Massachusetts College of Art, and also the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She holds a BA in French from Smith College. She went on to receive an MFA from the University of Arizona with a concentration in fibers and in 1996 attended Skowhegan artist residency. In addition, she holds an MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) from Rutgers University.
